Local plan suggested sites consultation: interactive map

This interactive map identifies all of the sites which were suggested for inclusion in the local plan by landowners, developers, other organisations, and the local community, either for development or a protective designation.

The city council undertook an initial assessment of each of these sites to assess their suitability for designation within the local plan. The city council then invited comments on the suggested sites and its initial assessment of them as part of the suggested sites consultation, which ran for a ten week period from 10 January to 21 March 2014.

A number of additional sites have also been assessed for development, green space and recreation use since the suggested sites consultation documents were published in 2014. Representations submitted at the suggested sites stage also highlighted a number of factual errors within a small number of the site assessments. The following site assessments have been updated to reflect these errors:

  • IC002 Land west of Hayes Road: under ‘soil and land’ it stated that there were no known contamination issues, however the land is heavily contaminated. The ‘Soil and land’ and ‘potential mitigation’ sections of this site assessment have been amended to reflect this
  • LW017 Land east of Linnyshaw: under scale of development / number of units it identified that if the entire site were to be developed for housing it would have a developable area of 70 hectares and could accommodate 2,100 houses. This was incorrect. It has been corrected to read ‘1,200 houses (assuming that the whole site is developed for housing, a developable area of 40 hectares, and a development density of 30 dwellings per hectare)’
  • LW027 Recreation land at Shap Drive: the boundary of the site included the land used as private garden by 7A Shap Drive, following permission by City West to use the land for this purpose. The boundary and site area has therefore been amended, to exclude the area in use as garden by 7A Shap Drive

The city council carried out an initial assessment of each of the sites, to assess their suitability to accommodate development, or the appropriateness of a protective designation.

Click on a site on the map and a link will appear. Click on the link, and a new window will open containing the city council’s assessment of this site.

Where a site was suggested for more than one type of use or designation, the site was assessed for each, and therefore you may want to read the assessments for each type of designation.
